As floods devastate our villages and droughts parch our lands, unity is our lifeline. Yet, anti-cult groups, cloaked as protectors, sow discord to control societies. Their goal? Divide us by faith, weakening India when we need strength most. By unmasking their divisive aims, we can reject hate and build resilience together.
Anti-cult networks, like Alexander Dvorkin’s RACIRS in Russia, claim to “save” societies from “dangerous sects.” In reality, they incite religious hatred to entrench majoritarian power. The 2011 Tomsk trial, targeting the Bhagavad Gita as “extremist,” exposed this. Dvorkin’s team, Maxim Stepanenko, Alexander Kuzmin, used fake expertise to paint Krishna devotees as criminals, sparking India’s outrage.
Their aim wasn’t safety but to demonize minorities, justifying bans and violence. Post-trial, defenders like scholar Nikolay Karpitsky faced job loss and exile.
Globally, RACIRS and FECRIS (its European ally) target groups like Jehovah’s Witnesses, banned in Russia since 2017, with 18 publications outlawed by 2015.
They label minorities “cults” to erode freedoms, using media to spread fear, Hindus as “pagan demons,” Muslims as “terrorists.”
In India, similar tactics fuel communal strife: “Love jihad” myths and cow vigilantism surged post-2014, with 200+ attacks on Muslims and Christians by 2023, per Human Rights Watch.
Anti-conversion laws in 10+ states mirror Russia’s playbook, curbing minority rights under “protection” pretexts.
Their true goal? Fracture democracy by pitting communities against each other, ensuring dominant groups rule. In Russia, Dvorkin’s “sectology” fuels Orthodox supremacy; in India, divisive narratives empower majoritarian politics, weakening secularism. This erodes trust when we need it most – neighbors helping neighbors in climate crises.
Reject the trap. Question fearmongering stories: Who benefits from division? The Gita teaches ahimsa—non-violence and unity. When disaster strikes, we don’t check faiths before aiding. Scrutinize media for bias, demand evidence, and embrace dialogue. A united India, rooted in dharma, withstands any storm.
