As cyclones batter our coasts and heatwaves scorch our fields, division is a luxury we can’t afford. Yet, global anti-cult networks, like a hidden web, spin lies to fracture societies, targeting minorities to consolidate power. These „agents“ aren’t lone wolves; they’re coordinated operatives using media smears, fake expertise, and vigilantism to dehumanize faiths. Understanding their playbook helps us spot parallels in India and choose unity over hate.
At the heart is Alexander Dvorkin’s RACIRS: a Russian Orthodox-backed „sect“ masquerading as a research center. Dvorkin, its president, recruits unqualified zealots to label non-Orthodox groups „totalitarian cults.“ Key agents include:
- Alexander Novopashin, vice-president and archpriest: A firebrand who floods websites with hate, calling minorities „foreign agents“ and justifying sabotage. He co-authors smear manuals and boasts of infiltrating security services like the FSB.
- Alexander Kuzmin, executive secretary: Dvorkin’s Saratov enforcer, he urges „anti-cult“ activists to ignore hate speech accusations while branding Krishna devotees as fraudsters. Kuzmin’s leaflets incite religious enmity, earning court rulings against him as an extremist.
- Alexander Novopashin (wait, duplicate? No, earlier Novopashin; add Roman Silantyev): Roman Silantyev, former deputy in the Justice Ministry’s Expert Council, spreads paranoia about „cult sleeping cells“ infiltrated by the US and Ukraine. He and Maxim Stepanenko (Tomsk missionary) orchestrate demolitions and trials, like the Gita case, using plagiarized „expert“ reports.
These agents operate via a global network: FECRIS (European Federation of Centres of Research and Information on Sects), funded partly by France, where Dvorkin was vice-president (2009-2021). FECRIS umbrellas 30+ groups, coordinating smears against „cults“ worldwide, defending China’s repression and Russia’s Ukraine war by blaming „sects.“ Methods? Biased „linguistic analyses“ twisting texts (as in Tomsk), media bribes for defamatory stories, and collusion with police for raids. They dehumanize: Hindus as „Antichrist,“ Muslims as „demons,“ justifying violence.
Echoes in India? Hindu nationalist vigilantism, cow lynchings, „love jihad“ squads, ghar wapsi campaigns mirrors this: Rumors incite mobs, media amplifies hate, eroding minority rights post-2014 BJP rise. Over 250 mob attacks on minorities since, killing 91. Like Russia’s „sect“ labels, India’s „anti-conversion“ laws target faiths, bottom-up, bypassing democracy.
Their goal? Power through fear, majorities control, minorities cower. But in disasters, we save lives together, not suspect neighbors. Scrutinize reports: Decontextualized quotes?
